Blackbirds
When I was young I had my den in a cherry tree. It was full of little green blobs of fruit and then they were gone! Every year my mother would complain about the blackbirds stealing all the cherries. I rather enjoyed sharing my den with those birds and that feeling inspired this drawing. For this collage, I used little bits of ‘B’ roads from old maps in the blackbird's beak and at the edge of the nest. The eggs are delicate and made from tissue paper. The rest is ink, with some cut up stamps around the outside. I recently found a little nest on the floor, it belonged to a wren. It was the a most exquisite, perfect little piece of treasure I’ve found in a long time.
